Bio: After my studies in Biology (bachelor 2018-2022 and master 2022-2024), I started my PhD in October 2024, where I focus on the biogeochemical role of terrestrial detritivores. Detritivores are invertebrates that consume detritus (dead organic matter), notably plant litter. They struggle to assimilate much from this low-quality detritus, and consequently produce many faeces. Therefore, in ecosystems where detritivores are abundant, great part of the plant litter is subject to a detritivore gut transit. For my PhD, I am conducting controlled lab experiments to study which detritivore and litter traits drive faeces characteristics and how this transformation to faeces is linked to their further decomposition, nutrient recycling and soil organic matter formation.
